Location and Setting
The property is situated in “Los Kikos,” a borough of Alcaucín, whose name originates from the Arabic “Al Cautin,” meaning arches. Nestled on a hill, the house boasts stunning views across the valley and up to La Maroma, the 2,066-metre-high mountain in the province of Málaga, just 20 minutes from the coast.
The plot is fully enclosed and accessed via a large iron entrance gate. The house stands approximately 20 metres from the road, featuring its own private driveway. Both the living room and terrace offer picturesque vistas. The road is a no-through road, ensuring only local neighbour traffic. A lush tropical garden between the road and the house provides complete privacy, creating a tranquil haven where nature, peace, and fresh air help you unwind. At dusk, you can savour a glass of wine or beer and enjoy pleasant conversation beneath a star-lit sky.
Outdoor Features
The villa boasts a generously sized swimming pool measuring 4 by 8 metres—perfect for a relaxing holiday. Spend your days lounging by the pool, reading under a parasol, or watching children enjoy the water. If the sun becomes too strong, a refreshing dip is always an option. The pool is heated solely by the sun, remaining accessible for only the bravest during the coldest winter months. Parasols, sun loungers, and beach towels are provided for your comfort.
Adjacent to the pool, on a second level, is a large terrace ideal for sports activities or meditation. The covered terrace at the front of the house is spacious enough for outdoor dining, with a gas barbecue and a patio table and chairs for up to six people.
Indoor Living Spaces
If the weather turns too hot or cold, you can retreat indoors to the spacious living and dining room, complete with a leather sofa and satellite TV. Netflix and internet access are also available, ensuring entertainment for all guests.
Kitchen and Dining
The well-equipped kitchen features a stove, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave, along with classic household appliances and a large fridge-freezer combination. All necessary dishes, cutlery, glasses, bags, kitchen towels, pots, and pans are provided for your convenience.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Bedroom 1 accommodates two people with a 1.80-metre box spring bed. Bedroom 2 is larger, sleeping up to four people, and includes a bunk bed and a double bed (1.40m wide). Duvets, sheets, and pillows are supplied, so you need not bring your own. There are two bathrooms: one with a sink and shower, and the other with a sink and bath. Towels are also provided.
Utilities and Sustainability
The house is fitted with an electric boiler for domestic hot water, with a 300-litre capacity. Heating and cooling are provided via an air-conditioning system, powered entirely by the photovoltaic installation on the roof, making the property self-sufficient.
Historical and Natural Attractions
This region is among the earliest inhabited areas of Málaga. Archaeological findings in La Cueva del Boquete, at 1,100 metres altitude, revealed Neanderthal remains. Alcaucín lies within the Axarquía Mountains, roughly 18 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of La Maroma. In the heart of the village is the historic spring water fountain, Los Cico Caños, dating back to the Arab era and supplied by the pristine waters of La Maroma. The impressive Boquete de Zafarraya gorge also dominates the village landscape.
From the house in Los Kikos, you can admire sweeping views over plains dotted with olive and almond trees. In spring, the orange trees blossom, filling the air with a breath-taking fragrance you will wish you could capture and take home.
