For your car there is a shaded carport and sliding security gate. You will need a car, as the local shopping area is a mile away and includes a return up a steep hill. The shopping there includes a baker, butcher, supermarket, Chinese emporium, hair and beauty salon, ironmongers, restaurants, bars and cafés.
Twenty minutes drive away is the town of Velez-Malaga, El Ingenio (a large modern shopping complex), Lidl, and an industrial estate. Five minutes further on is the nearest beach, at Torre del Mar.
Nerja, a very popular resort with Brits, and above it the white village of Frigiliana, are 40 minutes drive from Sueños.
Malaga is an hour’s drive, or you might prefer the bus ride from Torre del Mar, about €5 return, saving the expense and difficulty of parking. Malaga has a wonderful port area, shopping and historic centre, and good beaches and cultural features. Weekly markets are held at nearby Torre and Velez on Thursdays and at Caleta de Mar on Saturday morning.
Cycling and walking routes in this mountain area are to die for. The best cycling is right from the front gate and needs bikes with a wide range of gears. There are several bike hire shops in Torre. The best walking is in the Parque Natural, to which you would have to drive, the nearest access being at Alcaucín, 7km away. You can, however access plenty of paths from the villa.
A complimentary welcome pack will be provided with each arrival of one week or more, and a ‘full shop’ can be pre-ordered by email, at cost, plus a €30Eu surcharge. We will require a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit payable in cash on arrival, this covers accidental damage up to the cost of £150Gbp/€150Eu. It will be returned to you on the completion of a clean and check at the end of your stay, usually within five days. Non-accidental damage will be dealt with locally.
We offer various discounts for returning guests and for bookings on the second of two weeks or more outside the peak season.
The villa is thoroughly cleaned prior to occupation and again in accordance with length of stay. Additional cleaning can be provided as required and subject to charge. Included within your holiday price; all towels, including ones for the pool, fair usage electricity and gas, and complimentary Wi-fi.
There is complete no smoking policy inside the villa, however ashtrays are provided on the terraces.
Baby equipment can be provided at no extra cost, on a first come first served basis e.g. cots, highchair, car seat, buggy, steriliser etc.
We are unable to accommodate pets.
We have no fixed changeover days and we will always be flexible to suit your flights and arrival times, however, when it is unavoidable, and to allow time for a proper clean; we would ask that you vacate by 10.00 and not arrive before 16.00. We have no problem with late arrivals, however, any guests scheduled to arrive at the villa after 20.00 hrs there will be a €50 and between 00.01 and 2.00, there will be a €100 surcharge.
Further details
Alcaucin, Puente don Manuel, Los Romanes, Periana and Lake Vinuela are all very close and have lots of superb tapas bars and restaurants offering local well-cooked dishes. They have markets on different days and all have their own ‘fiestas’, full of colour, flamenco, and local traditions. During the summer, rarely does more than a few days pass when there is not a fiesta to be visited, celebrating; peaches, wine, grapes, raisins and not forgetting olives, basically any reason to party.
Other services
Car hire, airport transfers and days out. We can offer extremely competitive car rental from Malaga airport, alternatively we can arrange to transfer you to the villa from the airport. Should you arrange to collect your car at the airport, our agent will meet you, hand you the keys and you will be on your way in minutes, potentially saving you considerable time queuing at the rental desk.
In the immediate area, you can walk, go bird-watching, paint, or for the more energetic; mountain bike, kayak, or sail on Lake Vinuela.
Coast/Beach
One of the largest indoor shopping malls in the region, with a multiple screen cinema showing English language films is only 15 minutes’ drive away. The mall has one of the largest supermarkets in the area with amazing local produce available. There are also numerous markets, two local 18-hole golf courses, and the nearest beaches are only 20 minutes’ drive away. There is an aqua park near to the shopping mall, you can leave your car hear and catch a bus in to the local town of Velez Malaga, and its seaside resort; Torre del Mar, both have large and very busy markets on Thursday mornings.
Golf
There are 2 very good local golf courses, both having spectacular views as you play. Baviera is 20 minutes’ drive and Anoreta is 30 minutes.
Skiing
We are about 95 minutes’ drive away from the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada, the slopes are suitable for skiers of all levels of skill and experience, but you do not have to ski to have an excellent day out. There are separate free sledging runs for the children to enjoy, with sledges for hire at a few euros. The ski village is also an excellent place to visit in the summer where mountain bikes are available to hire.
Travel
Malaga airport is less than a one-hour drive and Granada airport is just 25 minutes more, airport transfers can be arranged with an English driver who knows where the villa is located. Due to our rural location, the use of a car is essential.
