Our Favorite Places
In Alcaucin…….
A short but steep walk to the top of our road is “Venta La Para” bar and restaurant. Owners Antonio & Sissy will welcome you for drinks of food 6 days a week. Closed Thursdays.
Up in the village are a couple more bars
A small shop, chemist and the public pool is up there: open every summer, great if you have children with you.
There are numerous walks into the national park from the village.
Drive to the bottom of the hill to Puente Don Manuel where there’s more shops and bars pretty much everything you would need.
These are some of the bars and shops we recommend:
Mason Sara – Great food, coffee & drinks
Arkwrights Supermarket – if your missing something from the uk you will find it here!
L’Ápero – Great for a drink and serve fantastic sandwiches! Plus other food!
The studio Hair & Beauty – if you fancy a little pamper!
Taj Mahal – Great Indian restaurant also does take away
Juanito Bakery – Love the croissants they are massive! Great selection of bread and other yummy stuff. Just on the other side opposite Meson Sara.
Out & About
Our favourite beach place to visit is Bahia Beach. Great food, sunbeds, live music, check them out on Facebook. This is the nearest beach, the next place we love is Burriana Beach in Nerja just along the coast.
KAYAK
Kayak or paddle board hire on the lake.
Nerja River Walk
The river walk at the Rio Chillar is a popular destination in Nerja. The trail leads through the Chillar River, which flows through Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Nature Reserves. On your journey, you will go through a marble gorge, bathe in natural created pools and encounter a great waterfall.
Coast/Beaches;
The beaches of the Costa de Sol are just 20 mins drive away with Lake Vinuela just at the bottom of the valley.
